DANBURY, Conn. (AP) — Jurors won’t be involved in the trial of a Connecticut nanny accused of abusing a 3-year-old girl and her 1-year-old twin siblings.
Quilligana has pleaded not guilty to more than 20 counts of risk of injury to a minor and one count of first-degree assault.
Police say Quilligana was arrested last year after she was caught on video beating and burning a 3-year-old girl she was babysitting for a Danbury family. Authorities say she also abused the girl’s 1-year-old siblings. Prosecutors have said that she ripped hair out of the children’s heads.
Quilligana’s attorney says her client has no prior convictions.
