West Haven High School students return to class after brief evacuation

WEST HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH)– West Haven High School students are back in class after the school was evacuated Thursday morning.

The West Haven’s Superintendent Office confirms to News 8 that students and staff of West Haven High School, located at  1 Mcdonough Plz, were evacuated. School officials say the evacuation was due to an odor of gas.

The fire department and gas company responded to the scene and deemed the school safe for students and staff to return inside.

There is no word on what caused the odor at this time.
