Elm City considers “Strong School” proposal

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — New Haven is looking at a new proposal for the “Strong School” in Fair Haven.

According to the New Haven Register, that plan would convert the school to a mixed-income, mixed-use facility that preserves the auditorium for community use.

The proposal includes developing 37 apartments inside the closed school in addition to upgrading the community playground that is on the property.

The proposal offers $500,000 for the school and land at the corner of Grand and Clinton Avenues.
