NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) – New Haven Police are looking for a 26 year old suspect who gave them the slip, but left his drivers license behind. Thursday night around 6:55 police were following what they call a suspicious car on Whalley Avenue. They ran the plate and found out the plate was on the wrong car. They turned on their lights and siren, and the Pontiac Grand Prix took off. The New Haven officers say they backed off because the driver was reckless. A few blocks away the driver side-swiped a car at a red light, and plowed into a stop light. Police pulled up and the man inside took off running. The man got away when he scaled a 12 foot fence topped with razor wire. Inside the Pontiac police say they found $1,239 in cash, a black ski mask, a digital scale, packaging baggiees, a glass pipe, nine cell phones, and a drivers licence and social security card. An arrest warrant is being prepared.
