Christmas tree placed on New Haven green

NEW HAVEN Conn. (WTNH) — Christmas is taking some of the attention away from Halloween on the New Haven green on Monday after the city’s Christmas tree arrived in the city.

With just 55 days until Christmas, the 65 footer is now set up and in place for the holiday. It did not have to travel far either, it was chopped down at New Haven’s Alling Memorial Golf Course. It will be a little while before they decorate and light it up. The tree is part of New haven Mayor Toni Harp’s “kindness initiative”.

As we move towards the holidays, the city is ramping up donations efforts for the Connecticut Food Bank and Toys For Tots.
