4-year-old dies after Monday night crash on Gold Star Highway

GROTON, Conn. (WTNH) — Groton Town Police say the 4-year-old girl, critically injured in a Monday night car crash has died from her injuries.

Delilah Ali died Tuesday at Yale-New Haven Hospital.

Rescue crews responded to the accident scene on the Gold Star Highway, at the intersections of Packer and Wells Road in Groton, just before 5:30 p.m. Two vehicles were involved in the crash.

Three occupants in one of the vehicles were taken to Lawrence & Memorial Hospital in New London. Two suffered from serious, but non-life threatening injuries. The third, Ali, was subsequently flown by Life Star to Yale-New Haven Hospital.

The driver of the second vehicle was treated for minor injuries at the crash scene.

Ali’s autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.
