Body pulled from Quinnipiac River identified as New Haven man

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — New Haven Police have released the identify of a man, whose body was discovered floating in the Quinnipiac River Tuesday afternoon.

The body of 59-year-old Gary Crawford, of New Haven, was discovered east of the Grand Avenue Bridge at 1:00 p.m.

Police say there is still no indication as to how Crawford ended up in the water. The incident is being treated as a potential crime, but there is no direct evidence of foul play.

Crawford’s body was recovered by police divers and has been taken to the Chief Medical Examiner for autopsy. The results of that autopsy have not yet been released.
