NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — New Haven police released surveillance photos of a man they want to talk to in connection with the murder of a store owner just a few weeks ago.
Police want to talk to him about the murder of 21-year-old Muhanad Jawad. Right now, investigators do not believe it was a robbery, but that Jawad was targeted. They made it clear, right now, they only want to talk to the man in this photo and that he is not being called a suspect.
Meanwhile, candles flicker in Jawad’s memory in front of the convenience store where he was shot in the middle of the afternoon.
Kevin Paul says the timing is unusual for a murder.
“I’m surprised at that, just walking out and shooting someone in broad daylight, very surprising,” said Paul.
Police detectives and investigators have been working this case very hard, trying to find the killer of Jawad because a broad daylight shooting especially at 1:36 in the afternoon, is a very dangerous person, especially when the motive isn’t robbery.
Police are releasing the surveillance pictures in hopes that someone will recognize him and call police.
