State Police make arrest in I-84 weapon accident

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WTNH) — Connecticut State Police were called in when a person reporting that a handgun had been pointed at them while traveling on Interstate 84 eastbound at exit 23 in Waterbury.

The caller remained on the phone with Troop A from Southbury until the vehicle was stopped just east of exit 33 in Plainville on Tuesday morning at 11:45 a.m.

The suspect was identified as William B. Puro, 30, of Ansonia. A handgun located under the passenger side front seat of Puro’s vehicle.

Puro was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment and assault with a dangerous instrument. He was released on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on November 15th.
