9 arrested after New London drug investigation

NEW LONDON, Conn. (WTNH) — New London police have arrested nine people after an investigation into drug sales in the city.

On Thursday morning, New London police executed a search warrant at a Garfield Avenue apartment where they found 10 grams of heroin, $6,000 and drug packaging material.

Police arrested 46-year-old Raul Negron Jr., who they say lives in the apartment, and 27-year-old Eddy Pena of Providence, Rhode Island. Both men are charged with possession of narcotics, possession with intent to sell, possession within 1500-feet of a housing project, tampering with evidence and operating a drug factory. They are each held on a $175,000 cash surety bond.

Police continued their investigation into drug sales in the area and arrested seven more people, charging them each with criminal attempt to possess narcotics:
