Opioid epidemic is focus of public educational forum tonight in Plainville

PLAINVILLE, Conn. (WTNH) — A community educational forum is scheduled for 6 o’clock tonight in Plainville to discuss the current opioid epidemic. The meeting will take place at Wheeler Clinic’s Connecticut Clearinghouse. It is free and open to the public. Wheeler’s Medical Director of Addiction Services, Alkesh N. Patel, MD, FASAM, will lead the discussion about the current opioid problem and available treatment and recovery resources and services. The presentation will include information on medication-assisted treatments (MAT) and the use of Narcan, a medication used to save lives by reversing the effects of an opioid overdose.
