Police search for suspect after New Haven man is shot in parked car

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — New Haven police say they are searching for a shooter, and working to determine his motive in firing several shots at 42-year-old Omar Gray, who was inside his car on George Street on Wednesday night.

Officer David Hartman with the New Haven Police Department says that police were notified of a shooting on the 500 block of George Street at 10:01 p.m. on Wednesday.

According to detectives, 42-year-old Omar Gray was confronted by a gunman while sitting in his parked car on George Street, between Orchard and Day Streets. The suspect, described by Gray as a young black man, fired several shots. Gray, located a block away after running from his assailant, had been shot in his right arm.

Police say that a motive for the shooting has not been determined.
