NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH)–  Is the election causing friction in your relationships with your significant other, colleagues, or friendships? Relationship expert Dr. Patty Ann Tublin says this election has become so toxic that it has negatively impacted personal relationships and has great tips to not

Dr. Patty’s Tips for Maintaining Positive Relationships during Negative Election:

  1. Understand that feelings are running so high because everyone is emotionally invested in the outcome. When we are emotionally invested in something logic and cognitive abilities tend to go out the window.
  2. Agree to agree that you and your counterpart love and care deeply about the country, and we all want what we believe is in this country’s best interests.
  3. Demonstrate effective communication skills, so don’t interrupt and don’t assume you know what the other person is going to say.
  4. Keep your sense of humor.
