MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WTNH) — More than $1,500 of marijuana was found in a car during a stop in Middletown, police say.

According to authorities, an officer saw a car with a flat tire pull into a parking lot Friday and went to help the driver, 41-year-old Brian Zarcaro. They say the officer could smell alcohol on Zarcaro’s breath, that Zarcaro had trouble walking, and admitted he was drunk. Police say the officer could also smell marijuana coming from the car and found nearly seven ounces of it.

When Zarcaro was placed under arrest, police say he tensed his body, pulled away, and tried to kick officers. They say he threw things at them during booking.

The East Hartford man is charged with DUI, drug possession, and interfering with police .
