Vernon Police officer injured in Sunday morning crash

VERNON, Conn. (WTNH) — A Vernon Police officer was taken to the hospital Sunday after being involved in a crash while responding to a report of a fight.

The accident happened just before 2:00 a.m. on the Route 83 intersection of Hockanum Boulevard. Police say the officer suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to St. Francis Hospital.

The operator of the other vehicle refused treatment at the scene.

The road was closed while police investigated, but it has since re-opened. The names of the officer and the driver of the other vehicle have not been released.

No charges have been filed at this time. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
