NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) – New Haven Police say a woman was able to get the gun away from the boyfriend who pistol whipped her after he fell asleep. Early Sunday morning police got a call from an apartment building on Quinnipiac Avenue. The woman who answered the door told police that her boyfriend, Tyrell Robinson, 29, came to her apartment drunk, pointed a gun at her and pistol whipped her. Robinson is a convicted felon, and police say the gun had been stolen from Cedar Falls, Iowa. He’s charged with threatening, assault, breach of peace, violating a protection order, carrying a pistol without a permit, criminal possession of a pistol, and possession of a stolen firearm.
