HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — The presidential race is not the only important one on Election Day. People in Connecticut are also voting for their U.S. Senator.

Republican Dan Carter is challenging incumbent Democrat Richard Blumenthal.

News 8 has been talking to both candidates as they criss-crossed the state.

“People need to realize that just because you have a big name, like Goliath or Blumenthal, that it doesn’t entitle you to be there. Everybody should have their chance to run for office. Every politician should be held accountable for what they do, or don’t do,” said Carter.

“I work like I am an underdog and especially at a time of volatility, and a lot of vitriol and venom it is important to be positive and tell people what I’ve done,” said Blumenthal.
