NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH)– News 8 caught up with New Haven Mayor Toni Harp waiting to cast her ballot earlier Tuesday morning.
The democrat stood in line with about 100 others outside the Edgewood School in the Westville neighborhood.
Harp says she’s excited about the possibility of a woman being elected to the nation’s highest office.
‘It’s a day that history can be made and will be made as far as I’m concerned. I’m really excited for the country and where we’re going in terms of leading the world for women’s right and women’s leadership. I’m very excited,” said Harp.
In 2014, Harp became the first woman to be elected mayor of New Haven.
