I-95 southbound reopens in Clinton after box truck fire

CLINTON, Conn. (WTNH)– I-95 southbound has reopened in Clinton after a box truck fire closed the highway Thursday morning.

State police confirm to News 8 that the accident, in which the box truck caught fire, happened between exits 63 and 64, just after 9 a.m. According to the Connecticut DOT, the accident has been cleared and all lanes have reopened.

Traffic was being detoured off the highway at exit 64. Troopers say everyone got out of the vehicle safely and that there were no injuries in the accident.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time and the incident remains under investigation.
