EAST HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Pratt & Whitney has been awarded a $167.5 million Department of Defense contract to make engines for military planes.
The company will make 48 engines for the Air Force, 14 for the Marines, and four for the Navy. It will also make parts and materials for 44 engines for international partners and foreign military sales customers.
The Department of Defense says most of the work will be done in East Hartford. Some work will be done in Indianapolis and in the United Kingdom. It expects all the engines, parts, and materials to be made by May 2019.
