In the Bender Kitchen: 90 Year Old WWII Veteran Shares His Incredible Journey

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) – World War II Veteran Bill Mangio shares his incredible story as a paratrooper while sharing a recipe near and dear to his heart.

Bill did is basic training Jacksonville Florida in 1944. He went overseas to the Philippines in 1945. After the atomic bomb dropped and ended the war, Bill returned in the USA and met his soon-to-be wife. They married in 1948 and have been together ever since. The couple, both 90 years old, remain active and reside at the White Oaks Retirement Community.

While in the Bender Kitchen, Bill cooks up some fried dough, which he and his family enjoyed every Sunday after church.
