NEW LONDON, Conn. (WTNH) — A 22-year-old has been arrested for driving under the influence Saturday morning.
At 2 a.m. Saturday, New London police were told that a car crashed into a parked car near Connecticut and Garfield Avenues. When officers got there, they say they saw the car hit two more parked cars, then continue driving toward Cedar Grove Avenue.
Officers activated their sirens, but the driver, later identified as 22-year-old Antonio Ajpop-Cor, didn’t pull over. They followed him onto Broad Street, Ledyard Street and back onto Cedar Grove Avenue where he hit a fourth parked car. Ajpop-Cor drove back onto Connecticut Avenue where he eventually stopped the car.
No one was injured during this incident.
Ajpop-Cor was arrested and charged with operating under the influence, engaging officers in pursuit, reckless driving, failure to drive right, evading responsibility, operating without a license and failure to carry insurance.
Police say Ajpop-Cor is being held in lieu of $50,000 bond and an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainer.
