GUILFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Set on 15 acres of pristine woodlands in Guilford, Benton’s Knoll is one of Connecticut’s newest premiere communities.

“Benton’s Knoll is a unique community that was created and developed in order to be able to satisfy what we felt was the needs of today’s buyers,” said developer and builder Russ Smith.

The homes there are beautifully crafted and provide care-free living.

“One of the benefits as I mentioned is the fact that the owners are able to enjoy not having to shovel snow, not having to worry about landscaping, so they can enjoy the lifestyle here without having a lot of responsibilities for up keeping of the yards,” Smith explained.

Nestled in the heart of Guilford, Benton’s Knoll is located just minutes from the historic town green, train station and beaches.

“We couldn’t have pictured a better spot than Sachem’s Head in Guilford,” Smith said.

The proximity to the water is one of the things that drew Kimberly Smith to Benton’s Knoll.

“My husband and I, one of our hobbies is kayaking,” she explained. “We like the shoreline here and so we started our search.”

Smith also liked that residents can customize their homes to suit their needs.

“Well we really liked the idea of being able to design our own home,” she explained. “We’ve never had that experience before.”

For her, one room in particular mattered the most.

“The kitchen was the most important room of the house,” she said. “I wanted a big kitchen. I wanted lots of counter space so I could spread out.”

It was also important that the floor plan was open.

“I didn’t want to miss out on anything and so the idea of having the family room open to the kitchen enables me to keep one ear on the conversation and another ear for the timer in the kitchen,” Smith explained.

The rest of Smith’s house is just as well thought out.

“Well the whole feel of the house, we wanted it to be open, bright and airy,” she described. “This is the house of my dreams.”

When completed, Benton’s Knoll will have a total of 14 houses, eight of which are yet to be built. Could one of those be your new home? For more information, visit or call 860-434-5500.
