(WTNH)–What’s the key to a happy marriage? Just ask these two News 8 viewers from Northford, Majorie and Alton Eliason, who were celebrating their 80th wedding anniversary over the weekend.

Marjorie is 101, Alton is 99. They eloped back in 1936. They actually had to go to New York to get married because Alton was only 19 years old, and too young to get married in Connecticut without parental consent.

After they got married, they both went back home to live with their parents, and kept it secret for almost a year. They’ve been inseparable ever since. They have two kids, five grandkids, 12 great-grandkids, and 2 great-great grandkids!

We wanted to wish them a happy anniversary, and to say thanks for sharing their story with us!
