9-year-old boy killed in Meriden house fire, mother in critical condition

MERIDEN, Conn. (WTNH) — A 9-year-old boy has died, and his mother was critically injured after a fire broke out at 13 Davis Street in Meriden Monday.

Firefighters responded to the home after the blaze broke out at 7:17 a.m. The fire department tells News 8 the boy and his mother suffered from smoke inhalation and were taken to an area hospital.

The Fire Marshall reports that the fire appears to be suspicious in nature. The names of the victims are not being released at this time.

Officials continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fire. Anyone with information is asked to contact Meriden Detectives at 203-630-6233.
