NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) – Planning on hitting the road this holiday season? Whether you’re taking a plane, train or automobile home to visit loved ones, it’s no secret that travel can be especially hectic this time of year.

Travel expert Laura Powell shares the best tips to travel this holiday season.

  1. Plan ahead: The earlier you plan, the better chance you have to determine the most cost effective method.
  2. Check your car ahead of time: Make sure your oil changed, tire pressure is correct, and brake fluid is full.
  3. Bring snacks and activities for kids: Get to where you need to go faster with less breaks.
  4. Stay in a suit: Save money on food by staying in a suit with your own kitchen.
