Stratford Police make arrest in shooting and finds stolen gun

STRATFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Police have made an arrest in a shooting in Stratford that happened on Friday, November 11th.

Police arrested 20-year-old Rodney Johnson Junior at his father’s home Monday afternoon. During the arrest, officers recovered a .380 caliber handgun and an electronic defense weapon. The handgun was reported stolen approximately two years ago in Trumbull.

Johnson was charged with assault, unlawful discharge of a firearm, criminal possession of a firearm, criminal possession of ammunition, carrying a pistol without a permit, and two counts of risk of injury to a minor.

He is being held on a $500,000 bond for his involvement in the shooting. He was arraigned Tuesday in Bridgeport Superior Court and is expected back in court on November 22nd.

Johnson was also charged with larceny in the sixth degree by possession and illegal transfer of a firearm for possession of the stolen firearm. He was given a $5,000 bond and is expected back in court on November 22nd.
