NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — The groundbreaking ceremony for the New Haven Police Department’s firing range will be held on Thursday, Nov. 17.

Mayor Toni N. Harp will be joined by Interim Chief of Police Anthony Campbell, other police department and city officials, and community members.

It’s scheduled to start at 1 p.m. at 170 Wintergreen Avenue, the site of the old army reserve center.

The city engineer said he plans to get as much work done as possible ahead of winter’s hard freeze, so construction of the new facility can begin promptly next spring.
