Juvenile arrested for possession in K-9 sweep of high school

OAKDALE, Conn. (WTNH) — One juvenile was arrested for possession of marijuana in a K-9 sweep at the Montville High School in Oakdale today.

K-9 teams from Montville, Stonington, Norwich, Groton Town, Waterford, Connecticut State Police, Colchester, and the Department of Corrections in partnership with the Montville Board of Education conducted a random K-9 school sweep for illicit drug activity at the Montville High School located at 800 Old Colchester Rd in Oakdale. During the sweep several K-9 teams were called upon to sniff areas of the school for illegal drugs. One juvenile was found in possession of suspected illegal drugs and was charged with possession of less than ½ ounce of marijuana, police say.

The Montville Police said the focus of the operation is to bring awareness to students, to create a drug free learning environment and eliminate illegal drugs on the school property.
