NORWALK, Conn. (WTNH)- Norwalk firefighters arrived at the scene of a house fire on Elmwood Avenue on Thursday afternoon in enough time to get an elderly woman out safely.
According to the fire department, arriving crews found heaving smoke pouring out of the attic dormers. One firefighter suffered some first and second degree burns to his back, arm and hand in the blaze.
Six people were displaced by the fire and are now being taken care of by the American Red Cross. Those house suffered significant damage and has been declared unfit for occupancy. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
