NEW HAVEN Conn. (WTNH) — It can be stressful when it comes to the holidays, with all the food we have to make and getting our house ready with cleaning and decorations. Wedding and Event Planning and Designer Lisa Antonecchia stopped by our station to show us how to decorate our home and create a fun family project for the holidays.
Lisa showed us how to decorate using simple things at our homes.
- Tablescape for your Thanksgiving table, with the use of natural tones create a warm and inviting table top for friends and family. Select two size lanterns, these have wood and metal elements, instead of placing a candle inside use herbs, and season flowers to create cascading effects from the lantern to table top and levels for more visual interest. Season herbs and flowers will create a soft sent and the right color choices for the Fall Season without overpowering all the delicious creations from the kitchen. Allow this to run down the center of the table to create a horizontal affect down for all to enjoy. Finish this look off with plenty of votive candles and done.
- Family Project since Thanksgiving is a time for family, use some of the day to create a family tree. There are two options for this, one would be the thumbprint tree! I used a paint marker to draw a tree on a acrylic plate, allow the family to press their thumbs into the stamp pad and create leaves on the family tree! Or take it one more step, poster board of a tree skeleton, create a tree with generations of family, a wonderful opportunity to teach the kids about the family from great-great grandparents to today, preserve the family history while you can.
