Fire breaks out in Old Saybrook home

OLD SAYBROOK, Conn. (WTNH)– A police officer was able to get a family out of a house fire in Old Saybrook overnight Sunday.

The Old Saybrook Fire Department responded to Denmore Lane to the report of a structure fire around 3:50 a.m. Fire officials say a neighbor called 911 after noticing the house was on fire.

Police Officer Philip Ciccone arrived after the 911 call to find the home on fire. He was then able to wake the occupants to get them and their pets out of the home safely.

Firefighters from Westbrook and Clinton responded to the scene to help put out the fire. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
