Hartford police arrest armed suspect

Gun arrest 11/19

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) —- According to the Hartford police department, officers were able to safely arrest an armed suspect over the weekend.

Saturday night at 1:24 a.m. Hartford police were dispatched to the area of Franklin Avenue and Annawan Street after they received a 911 call reporting a person with a firearm. When police arrived at the scene, they located a suspect who matched the 911 call description who was later identified as Arcenio Dunker, 27, of Bloomfield.

When Dunker tried to escape while the officers performed an investigation, they told him to stop but he continued to run north on Franklin Avenue and into a dark backyard. The officers gave more verbal commands to Dunker when they identified the sound of a pistol slide loading a round into a gun. After officers heard something metal being thrown to the ground, Dunker walked forward with his hands raised.

A canvas of the area led to the discovery of a 9mm TGI pistol with four live rounds inside. Dunker was arrested and transported to booking after being debriefed by investigators.

Dunker is a repeated convicted felon and has 10 previous arrests in Hartford. He was charged with possession of a pistol without a permit, criminal possession of a firearm, and disorderly conduct.
