HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) – U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal will announce new legislation he plans to introduce in the next session of Congress to strengthen federal laws against hate crimes.
Sen. Blumenthal will make the announcement at the Legislative Office Building in Hartford on Monday morning.
Blumenthal will be joined by advocates from the Anti-Defamation League, NAACP, CAIR-CT, True Colors and the Connecticut Immigrant Rights Alliance.
Together, Sen. Blumenthal and those groups will condemn a nationwide surge in hate crimes over the past year and the avalanche of hate speech that has emerged in the aftermath of the Presidential election.
