(WTNH) — Do you remember the story we told you about last week of the grandmother who accidentally texted a stranger inviting him to Thanksgiving dinner? Well, she kept her promise and spent Thanksgiving with her new “honorary grandson.”

Wanda Dench thought she was texting her grandson last week, going over plans for Thanksgiving dinner. Instead, she texted 17-year-old Jamal Hinton, who is not her biological grandson.

After realizing the mix-up, Dench decided the invitation still stood.

On Thanksgiving, Dench waited for Hinton to arrive. When he did, the two shook hands and hugged.

“I’d never seen her before and she welcomed me into her home,” Hinton told ABC15. “That shows me how great of a person she is, I’m thankful for people like that.”
