(WTNH) — Police in Texas are desperately searching for a nine-year-old Connecticut boy with autism who has been missing since Thanksgiving afternoon.
The Pearland Police Department is searching for nine-year-old Marcus McGhee, who went missing from a home in the 6700 block of Fite Thanksgiving afternoon. The home is owned by Hartford native and former NBA player Marcus Camby, and the boy is his nephew, according to MySanAntonio.com.
The boy was last seen wearing a black T-shirt with a green Nike swoosh, gray and black sweatpants and was not wearing shoes.
Police issued the following statement on Facebook Friday evening:
Marcus had been playing with other kids on Thanksgiving, but adults noticed he was missing at around 4:15 p.m. Police arrived at the house at around 4:45 p.m. Thursday and began searching through the large property, which includes a small lake in its center. Pearland Police lieutenant Onesimo Lopez said that a security camera picked up Marcus for a few seconds as he slipped out of a side door.
The camera showed Marcus heading north on the property but he is almost immediately lost from view. Police said that Marcus may have a Wi-Fi powered iPad with him, and were trying to locate that. Police were concerned that loud noises or large animals could frighten him.
A Coast Guard helicopter, bloodhound, ATVs and dozens of volunteers were also searching for Marcus.
Pearland police are posting updates on their Facebook page. Please report any sightings or possible leads to (281)997-4100.
Police also requested the assistance of anyone in the area with a surveillance camera.
