Two men dead in car accident on I-84 in Southbury

SOUTHBURY, Conn. (WTNH)–Two men have died as a result of a car accident on I-84 this morning in Southbury, state police said Friday.

Police responded to a call around 9:48 a.m., after a crash was reported around exit 14 on I-84. The vehicle, a Subaru Legacy, was traveling west when it left the roadway and struck a tree near that exit.

The car was being driven by 69-year-old Warren Rynkar of Malden, Massachusetts. He was pronounced dead on the scene by a Campion medic. Twenty-six-year-old John Thomas Rynkar, also of Malden, Mass., was a passenger in the car. He was transported by ambulance to Waterbury Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

State police are looking into how the two men were related.
