HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH)– A major rally is planned at the state capitol Tuesday to save the “Care 4 Kids” program which could face some steep budget cuts.

“Care 4 Kids” costs more than $100 million a year. About half of that has been coming from the federal government with the state paying the rest.

But, changes in federal rules mean the state will have to pick up an additional $33 million.

The governor’s office says it is evaluating all valuable options before moving forward with any changes.
