SOUTHINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) — A Southington woman faces charges for making up a story about being the victim of domestic violence and an assault. Police say 32-year-old Shawnya Watson came to the department on October 15 and reported that she has been physically assaulted, and signed a sworn statement regarding the incident. Watson later provided a second statement recanting the original one. The person she accused in her initial statement was never arrested. Watson faces charges for falsely reporting an incident. She was arrested on November 25, was released on $1000 bond, and will be in court December 5.
