Storm Team 8 Weather Update – Another Soaker for CT

Connecticut is getting just what the drought doctored ordered with back-to-back rain storms in the midweek. After a 12-15 hour break, rain returned around midday Wednesday and will continue through most of the night. Some parts of CT will see 3-4″ of rain between the two storms. Light rain in most of CT at 8:15 pm. There will be steadier rain by late evening, and a t-storm cannot be ruled out. The lightning strikes south of Long Island are will stay in the Atlantic ocean to our southeast.

There will be a lull in the steady rain until late this evening. Showers will move out by around dawn on Thursday. Round two looks like it will bring 1-1.5″ for CT including what has already fallen today.

The overall theme for mid-December is colder weather in the Lower 48. It will move into the Western US next week and spread east.

The forecast for early next week is uncertain. This computer model projection for Monday afternoon shows lower odds of a storm in the Northeast, with most of the energy hanging back over the Midwest and Southeast US. For not, we’re going to keep the chance of showers around Monday into the midweek until the forecast comes into focus.

Showery and mild for the ride home. Winds will be lighter than yesterday when it was gusting over 30 mph. Showers linger through the night.

While the evening commute will be wet, Thursday morning’s drive should be dry, especially if you’re on the road after 6 AM. Overall, Thursday will be a nice day with highs in the mid 50s.
