EAST WINDSOR, Conn. (WTNH) —- According to the East Windsor Police Department, there are some key safety tips that consumers should follow to protect themselves against package theft.

On Wednesday, there was a reported package stolen from a person’s Wolcott Landing Apartment Complex doorstep. While this is the first reported incident in the Wolcott area, there have been a number of reported incidents around the state.

To protect yourself against package theft, here are some tips:

  1. List a delivery location where the package can be immediately picked up by a trusted person.
  2. Some work places will allow packages to be delivered to their address.
  3. Ask the shipping company to place your package in a hidden location outside of your home.
  4. You could also ask to pick up your package from your local package facility.
  5. Make sure to track you packages online and confirm that the package has been delivered.

If you have lost a package to package theft, please contact your local police department.
