Thirty-Five Pounds Lighter: How Carolyn Dropped the Weight for Good

MERIDEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Are you someone who’s watched the scale move up and down over the years? Losing weight can be tough, but keeping it off can be even harder. That was Carolyn Hall’s reality until she found a program that works for her.

“I think part of it is when you get to a place you feel bad about yourself, it’s hard to climb out of that,” Hall recalled.

Over the years, Hall has struggled with her weight.

“I’ve always been very active so my weight has kind of gone up and down,” Hall explained. “I play sports. I have since I was a kid. I just never seemed to get the timing right with diet and activity.”

At her heaviest, Hall reached 172 pounds.

“I finally got myself to the point where I need to do something about this,” Hall said.

That’s when Hall became a member of The Edge Fitness Clubs and joined their Weight Loss Challenge, 60 day, team based program that involves bi-weekly weigh ins, group workouts, nutritional coaching, and more.

“My favorite part was just getting to know so many great people,” Hall said. “It’s not a competitive thing where I want to be better than you are. Everyone roots each other on.”

During the challenge, Hall transformed her body. She credits her trainer Lindsay Boyles with much of her success.

“One of the great things that Lindsay did for me is tell me to work smarter instead of harder,” Hall explained. “I think I was working hard but it always wasn’t the most effective kind of things I was doing, and she really taught me how to exercise best for my body — the best results in the quickest amount of time.”

“Watching her progress from the beginning to the end was one of the most amazing things that I’ve witnessed,” Boyles said. “I had a client who said, ‘She will win this. If you tell her what to do, she will win this.’”

And Hall did just that — winning the challenge at her Edge Fitness Club in Meriden and taking home a $500 prize.

“I lost 21.77 percent of my body weight,” Hall said.

Now she has shed 35 pounds, she’s feeling better than ever.

“Before, clothes shopping was always torture for me,” Hall recalled. “I live to shop now. But it’s not even just how I look. It’s how I feel inside. I feel fit. I feel healthy.”

She’s now a woman who’s now healthy and happy. To learn more about the Edge Fitness Weight Loss Challenge, visit
