Yale puts together panel to decide if it will change name of Calhoun College

(WTNH)–Yale has put together a panel to decide if the school will change the name of one of its colleges, which is named after a man who argued in favor of slavery.

Yale has been under pressure to change the name of Calhoun College.

Calhoun was a Yale grad, a former vice president, and pushed to keep slavery. Yale just released new guidelines about how names can be changed on campus, saying they can only been changed when the person was honored for a “legacy fundamentally at odds with the university’s mission not to erase history.”
