In Grinchiest Move Ever, M.T.A. Bans Alcohol on Trains During SantaCon

NEW YORK, (New York) WTNH – The Metropolitan Transportation Authority will reprise its role as the Grinch, in a time-honored Holiday production known as SantaCon.  The yearly tradition of costumed debauchery will take place on Saturday, December 10th.  Participants will don Santa, Racy Mrs. Claus, or Elf cosutmes (Elf on the Shelf for those with more of a taste for adventure) and embark on a day-long drinking adventure (not including any jail time).  This year, the M.T.A. is again letting out a resounding “ba humbug!”  In a decidedly Scrooged up move, the M.T.A. is banning alcohol on Long Island Rail Road and Metro-North Railroad trains and in stations from noon Saturday through noon Sunday.  Police will confiscate alcoholic beverages and issue summonses carrying fines or imprisonment. Police also may remove violators from trains or stations.  But they are legally forbidden from confiscating your Christmas spirit!
