Vernon police make arrest in connection with armed standoff

VERNON, Conn. (WTNH) — Vernon police have made an arrest in connection to an armed standoff.

Edward Sullivan has been charged with breach of peace and interfering with police.

Police said they got calls from Sullivan’s family that he had taken out a gun and threatened suicide.

His home is located close to Route 83 and several businesses and police said, as a precaution, the road and surrounding area was shut down while they were trying to get Sullivan to put down the gun.

Police said he was taken into custody and taken to the hospital and no one was injured.
