Driver identified in Southbury fatal crash

SOUTHBURY, Conn. (WTNH)– Southbury police have identified the driver that was killed in crash between a car and a garbage truck on Route 188 Monday morning.

At around 6:35 a.m., police say 59-year-old Kim Lesko, of Oxford, was driving northbound on Route 188. Officers say Lesko lost control of her car on a curve, and spun out into the southbound lane. Lesko’s car came to a stop with the right side of her vehicle facing the southbound lane.

At the same time, a dump truck being driven by 51-year-old Jeffrey Jensen, of Naugatuck, was traveling in the southbound lane. According to Southbury police, the truck struck the right front end of Lesko’s car.

Lesko suffered fatal injuries from the crash. Jensen was not injuried, according to police.

The official cause of the crash has not yet been determined. Police did note that the area was unlit, and described the roadway as “partially slushy” from wintry weather overnight.
