HAMDEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Several residents in the town of Hamden have expressed concerns regarding the plan for a new liquor store on State Street.

The town planning and zoning commission has decided to hold off on their official decision, according to a report in the New Haven Register.

Residents told the Register that the major concern is regarding a possible increase in crime. The liquor store would be in replacement of a former used car lot. An application for the liquor store had been placed at 1743 State Street, located across from East Rock Park, and that the plan is set to take place in January.

No further information has been released.
