Meriden man arrested for crashing into police cruiser in July

MERIDEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Connecticut State Police cruiser was hit near exit 20 on I-91 northbound in Middletown on July 18, 2016.

At the time of the accident, Connecticut DOT workers were performing emergency guardrail repairs from a prior accident. Two people were taken to Hartford Hospital with minor injuries.

Joshua Rita, 25, of Meriden, was taken into custody on an arrest warrant on Wednesday.

Rita was released on $2,500 cash bond. He is expected back at Middletown Superior Court on December 28th.

Rita was charged with driving under the influence and failure to move over for emergency vehicles.
