MERIDEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Heavy police presence was spotted on a street in Meriden on Friday night, but the scene has since cleared.

News 8 received some Report-It photos showing police cars lined down Curtis Street and Cass Street.

In one photo, a police cruiser can be seen blocking one of the streets.

According to police, the relatives of an emotionally disturbed man called them. The man said he wanted police to kill him.

A police negotiator was brought in to talk to the man for hours until he came out. Officers say this is exactly the outcome they hoped for.
