Stonington man dies in boating accident on Long Island Sound

(WTNH) — A Stonington man is dead after a boating accident on Long Island Sound.

Police say 63-year-old Harold Calkins and his wife anchored their boat near Plum Island on the Fourth of July.

He dove into the water, but got caught in the current and couldn’t make it back to the boat.

The Coast Guard found his body.

Police say the death does not seem to be criminal.
